Network of Associated Centers

In August 2007, somebody came to CSA and asked if the school did the DELE exams (Spanish Diploma as foreign language) of the Cervantes Institute of Spain, but we said no.

Just then, we came to know the interest and the doubt of knowing what was or what was the meaning of Cervantes Institute and DELE. We began to have contact with them and discovered that Cervantes Institute was created by the government of Spain to diffuse the Spanish language and the Hispanic culture throughout the world. We discovered that Cervantes is for Spanish as the Alliance Françoise is for the French, the Society Dante Alighieri is for the Italian and the Alexander Von Humboldt Association is for the German language.

Then we wrote to the Institute in Spain to ask about the requirements to become an associated center and DELE Exam Center. We did all the procedures for a written evaluation which included more than 900 questions.

In April 2008, they reported us that the person that was assigned to come to do the evaluation for the "Opinion of Quality" would be Mr. Luis Moratinos of Cervantes Institute from Salvador de Bahia in Brazil.

Mr. Moratinos came in the first days of September 2008 to do the evaluations in which we had to pass several areas of our work, such as: the administration, the teaching staff, the teaching material, the building and additional services that we offer.

After passing the evaluation, came all the legal process, mailing of legal documents and commercial registrations of CSA.

This past May we were for the first time, recognized as DELE Exam Center, which is carried out three times per year.

Finally in July 30, we received the official notification of welcome to the Associates Centers Network of the Cervantes Institute. Such incorporation was effective starting August 1st. For this reason we are happy and very proud that CSA is the only associated center in Guatemala and one of the few in Central America.
